5 Healthy Hair Care Tips for Winter Hair
The winter season is here and can be brutal on your hair. The freezing temperatures make your hair and scalp super uncomfortable, flaky, rough, dry, and breakage-prone.
In this article, we have shared 5 winter hair care tips to keep your scalp and hair happy throughout the winter season. Take a peek.
1. Hair oil to moisturize your hair and scalp
One way to use hair oil is as a moisturizing treatment. This can be applied before you take a shower, pin your hair up and let the steam from the shower open the cuticle and penetrate into the hair. Then, you shampoo and condition as normal and “your hair will feel amazing!” The process works on pretty much any hair type.
2. Start extending your washes
If you wash your hair every day, try to make a switch to your winter hair care routine and extend the time between your washes as much as possible. If you typically wash your hair every day then switch to every other day. If you find your hair is still very dry and lacking moisture, try every three days.
3. Deep condition with a hair mask
Hair masks are trending. No, that is not a typo. We did mean hair masks and not face masks.
Hair masks are intense conditioners that have more fatty acids and lipids in them, which can return moisture to the hair and help protect it. When the hair is healthy, the cuticle stays closed, which means less frizz and your color looks better because light reflects off your hair. Masks can help repair what styling and the environment takes out.
4. Pump volume into your hair with dry shampoo
Great hairstyles are no match for winter hats. Made of cotton, wool and other dense fibers, seasonal hats can flatten hair and leave roots looking lifeless. Dry shampoo applied to the roots can pump volume back into the hair. Spraying a light, even layer across the scalp, tousling the hair and within minutes can give you a fuller, thicker refreshed look without the harshness of washing.
5. Water for Hair Growth
Water hydrates the hair cells, makes them work the way they are supposed to and this helps your hair grow long and strong. Not just that, it stays in place too. And with hydration, you help keep away hair loss. Drinking at least two liters of water a day will help the strength of your hair, increasing growth.
